Groceries

A clear sign that a place can have a strong impact on a person's happiness and wellbeing is when your produce manager tells you that you look more vibrant then ever, despite the fact that there are still purple jet-lag bags under your eyes, and your skin has that green long-traveled tint. Wow, what a compliment!

I somehow survived a drive to the Kahala mall whole foods, and managed to find parking in a reasonable amount of time. Driving is so weird. I feel like I'm breaking the rules or something. It has become a completely unaccustomed task for me. I was ready to get my metro card out of my purse, when I realized I had to put the key in the ignition. Whole Foods is still a corporation, and though I wish I didn't have to shop there, it's so hard to afford those small organic stores sometimes. I forgot how  many brands there are. It's a headache, but a fascinating one. I just want normal müsli... not sweetened with agave/ low fat/ gluten free/ quinoa flour/ extra fiber/ sugary clusters... but amidst all the hundreds of types of cereals, no such thing seems to exist, at least not organic. It was a completely overwhelming experience. I had to hide out in the essential oils aisle for a few minutes, trying out the testers to calm my nerves and roll my cart to the checkout counter. I couldn't help but bag my own bags at the end... it's so strange that they hire others to do it. I feel completely out of place.

I managed to find Norwegian goat-cream-cheese and some knäckebröd though, so I'm satisfied. That, cucumbers and sun-dried tomatoes led to a lovely little lunch.
