Receding Beetline

Thinning beets is tragic. Actually, thinning any plant is tragic, but beets especially because their lovely, sanguine, fucsia hues speak LIFE-force, and it makes the act seem so cruel. Nevertheless, it is necessary to rip out those innocent little sprouts, because they eventually will stunt the growth of their neighbors and then the harvest won't be so successful.
