I can't get enough of the outdoors. Hiking just doesn't quench my thirst for tall grasses and overgrown trees. I really should go camping. Yesterday I took my bike for a ride through the farms up in my valley, and I met with a woman who said an elderly man named, "Tom" is looking for a groundskeeper and somebody to help him get his farm going. Sounds interesting. I inquired about the land up there. It's owned by Kamehameha Schools, and they only lease it out, never sell. Although they were consiering selling it at "developing" price, which means that only rich hotel owners could purchase the land. Sadly, that might just happen. I hope that that valley never ever ever ever gets turned into more highrises. It's literally the last piece of agricultural land on East Oahu... Well, the valley has been fighting that proposition and won 15 more years of secure leasehold.... still. I wish there'd be some cool wwoofing farms up in there. At this point it's just nurseries and small family farms owed by mostly older people. It's still got a beautiful vibe and lush soil. Tons of fruit trees growing on the side of the dirt road there: mangoes, pomegranates, limes, papayas, bananas, all kinds of yummies...
