"Getting Organized"

Usually when people advise to "get organized" before approaching your homework or studying, they mean, straightening the papers on your desk, locating all supplies and writing implements, polishing your glasses and getting started. Zip, zap, done.

For me "getting organized" means vacuuming high and low in all corners and ridges, cleaning the floors in the whole apartment, doing the laundry, changing the sheets, watering the plants, cleaning the kitchen, making sure all the kitchen cabinets are closed—God forbid if they're open!— cleaning the toilets and the sinks, organizing the worst of my closet, shaking out the rugs, straightening the shoes in the hallway, vacuuming my desk, sorting those loose papers, locating my pens, writing a little bit about the realization of this insanity and then getting started (no glasses to polish.) Talk about OCD...
