Sunset Spot for Moss

This evening, on my post-run walk, I explored a part of Hawaii Kai that I've only seen from the summit of Koko Crater, but never actually found before. I chanced upon a random dirt path on the side of the main road and took it. The path turns into a sort of lawn that stretches uphill for about a mile, running alongside the walls of Hawaii Kai homes. I followed it to its end, where I was greeted by a fat gray cat with round green eyes sicking its front half out of the bushes; rump high in the air, ready to pounce. I noticed a trail marker dangling pink amidst a clump of tree beans, and found a little trail through the unkempt mass of tress and brush to the left of the "lawn." I took it, curiosity taking the best of me, and wound up alongside a cement waterway, void of water but filled with amazing graffiti. This waterless waterway stretched for a few miles and I walked alongside it. Those gorgeous mini-sunflowers greeted me and the colorful spray-paint fantasies winked in the late sunlight. Everything was doused in that amazing pink-orange glow that only 6 o'clock can bring, and birds were chirping their last songs of the day. I followed the cement until the graffiti petered out and only amateur, black tags remained. I spotted some moss growing on the lip of the cement and found the perfect spot for my Moss Graffiti. Visit my other blog/ collaborative project to follow up on the Moss Graffiti project that I'm working on.
