I was sitting before my computer screen, deciding which classes to register for when I go back to school in January, and I began a collection of web-page tabs. I had the registration guide, then of course the page of core-class requirements, each departments' course catalogue, along with a 'rate my professor' page for each subject. Slightly on a tangent, I opened a new page (and all its additional tabs), this one dedicated to California schools. I had the state map for reference, the homepage of WWOOF California next to that, three websites for goat farms, biodynamic farms, alternative schools, classes, courses, cheese makers, vineyards, things that involved plants, green things......
That was enough to get me to pull out a blank piece of paper and draw it all out. It was too much for my head. So I honestly drew and wrote and doodled out my dream, didn't waste a second in finding an old balsamic vinegar bottle and sent my dream out to sea. (I singed the edges for a pirate-y effect, of course.) I ran out to the edge of the marina where the water is deepest and javelined the bottle as far as I could. I saw it gleam in the moonlight for a few seconds before it vanished. Verschwunden. (The German word sounds appropriate here.) The neighbors across the water were playing the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." I was shivering a bit but it wasn't cold.
I don't litter. And the fact that I just threw something into the water is pretty extreme. But in my defense, I don't think that any marine animals will be eating a 750ml glass bottle, and when it degrades it will just become sand...silica to silica.
