So on Sunday I went to an event at the Lyon Arboretum, one of Honolulu's most beloved botanical gardens. They were hosting a fundraiser with music, plant sales, and tours of the place. Being there brought back so many memories of high school, as we went there frequently for field-trips. It also made me realize that although I really love plants and know some interesting facts, I'm pretty much a botany noob. I met some people that were chatting about all these crazy plant classifications and evolved species, even getting into debates about whether plants should be classified under a certain category or another. Wow. I just had to step back and let them do their chatting. I definitely had to admire their knowledge. It makes me even more excited for the upcoming semester! I let myself wander into the wonderful jungle-like depths of the arboretum, which is located in the back of the lush, gorgeous Manoa valley. What a refreshing and soothing afternoon away from everything, totally lost in this wonderful green paradise.
