Papaya Mystiqué

After months of attempting to sprout papayas, nearly 50 seeds prepared in different ways, I gave the project a rest and moved on to other plants (pumpkins, which are flowering now, by the way!) About two weeks ago I noticed a few green hooligans loitering on the outskirts of some of the yogurt containers. Out of principle, I don't uproot plants, unless I'm certain that they're weeds and will be detrimental to the growth of other plants. Some weeds are good anyway, and it's best to just leave them. Well I let the grow, and to my joy, they turned out to be papayas. So now I have 5 papaya plants  growing alongside my lettuce and pumpkins. And also two new lettuce sprouts appeared out of nowhere. This is what I find so intriguing about gardening. Sometimes you need to treat your plants like adolescents. Give them space and let them do their own thing, while still nurturing them. At least... I've always been successful with that method. Sometimes I manage to sprout more seeds when I forget about them. As they say, a watchpot never boils. Looks like I'll have lots of pumpkins to harvest, as there are tons of flowers! I should really repot them to give their roots more room to rumble. It would be so cool to put them in one of those old-fashioned, clawed bathtubs. Too bad I don't have any of those laying around, not to mention the room for one of those beasts in my garden. Ah well, I'll figure something else out. Patience pays off.
