Lush Lush Take 2

I just didn't get enough of Koko Crater's amazing foothills yesterday, so I begged my sister to come along and pick more flowers with me today. Her initial reaction was the typical 13-year-old grunt and whine about me being a "nature-freak" who needs to get a life and enjoy the "in thing" to do, i.e, shoot coy looks at 15-year old skaters at the mall. Right, I think I'll stick to frolicking through fields and admiring natures bounty, thanks. She resigned her pretentious air though, and started to enjoy herself. We had a camera with us this time, and took some pretty, though admittedly hipster-esque photos.

I still got in a few shots of the amazing mountain, although today it possessed less lushness than it had yesterday. Perhaps this was due to the time of day. My hike occurred around 4 yesterday, and we picked flowers around noon. Yes, big difference. March noons in Hawaii tend to have this trippy quality about them, where everything looks like it could be straight out of the neighborhoods from Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands; plastic, surreal, over-vivid.

Nevertheless, we found some really beautiful flowers and had a good time.

Before our flower-picking fling, we were at the Hawaii Kai library, and I found the most awesome thing ever! It was a map of the Tunnelbana- Stockholm's Metro. It made me so excited to read the familiar names of stops, Alvik, Brommaplan, Hässelby Strand.... Only a month left here and I'll be back there. But leaving Hawaii will be sad. Good thing I'm coming back. I am so grateful to have the privilege to travel and spend time in two of my favorite places in the world. Love.
