Fairy Time

So I guess that the 9pm coffee does have an effect on me after all, because instead of sleeping, I've been laying in bed thinking of 3rd grade when all of a sudden a really crazy but amazing idea struck me.

I could totally be a Waldorf gardening teacher! This idea led me to cackle and giggle and slap my mattress in euphoria, and shout: "OH my god! That's amazing!"and then I realized that my window was wide open, and every noise I was making was audible to my neighbor, whose window also happened to be open. Awkward....

I also made up a song about fairies on the spot, which I also sang.... to my open window. Double awkward, but I don't care because I love singing cute Waldorf songs about fairies... My spontaneous lyrics go something like this:

"Now all the little garden fairies follow me outside,
We'll find a patch of fertile soil where little earthworms hide.
We'll dig, dig, dig a big hole,
plant a seed and cover it with soil..."

I always believed in those fairies... I kind of was one, myself :)

Yes, this I sang in a really high, kindergarten-teachery-voice, and made a little wiggly hand-motion during the part about the worm. Hehehe... I will get funny looks from the guy in room 1204 tomorrow!

But seriously, that would be SO cool. I could do a whole spiral garden and have butterfly plants...I know that not all kids are so enthusiastic about this kind of stuff, but it would still be so much fun. Children, Waldorf and working outdoors... how much better does it get? I could do that until I get my own wonderful land to cultivate and start my own community/farm/ paradise...

I would be really nice to have a farm near a Waldorf school, so kids could come volunteer and do the easy things like start seedlings and weed plants. I remember I loved doing that at my school's garden. I was so proud when my beets sprouted and ripened! I have some bitter memories of 8th grade gardening though, because it involved a really strict teacher who liked to give awful jobs like cleaning out a totally nasty, algae-ous fountain... but I know I'd try to be a nice teacher... Whoa... whoa... my mind is going so fast right now, it's kind of scaring me... Biodynamics, Permaculture, Kids, Community, Waldorf...

I'm just not going to sleep tonight! Give me some nature now or I'll go crazy!
